Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Creating Empowerment Solutions LLC (“CES,” “we,” “us”) collects through ClauseCheck, why, and what choices you have. It applies to members using the document-review tool and to attorneys listed in the directory. It doesn’t apply to third-party sites we link to.

• Account information: your email address and authentication credentials.
• Documents you upload and the text extracted from them for analysis.
• Findings we generate: the clause types, terms, and dates located in your documents, and the questions we surface for them.
• Attorney directory data: if you sign up as an attorney, your name, firm, bar admission and registration number, practice areas, and other profile details you provide.
• Usage data: basic technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as request logs.

We use what we collect to:

• Parse your document and locate clause types, terms, and dates in it.
• Show you the results, generate your “Questions to Ask a Lawyer” sheet, and maintain your vault.
• Send deadline reminders for dates you’ve confirmed.
• Verify attorney bar admission before a listing goes live, and keep listings current.
• Secure the Service, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not use your documents or their contents to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.

Locating clauses and terms in your document involves sending the extracted text (never the raw file) to Anthropic’s API for classification. This is a mechanical step — the model locates and quotes text; it does not write the explanations you see, which come from a fixed library reviewed independently of any individual document. We process this under a zero-data-retention configuration with our AI provider so submitted text isn’t retained by them beyond generating the response, and isn’t used to train their models.

On the free plan, documents and their extracted findings are deleted 30 days after upload; a background job removes the stored file and the associated records. You can delete a document immediately at any time from your vault instead of waiting for that window. Deleting a document removes the file and its findings; dates you’ve confirmed for reminders may be kept separately so a scheduled alert still reaches you even after the source document is gone.

If you delete your account, we delete your documents, findings, and profile information, except where we’re required to keep records for legal, tax, or audit purposes.

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who host our infrastructure, database, and file storage.
• Our AI provider, solely to locate clauses and terms as described above.
• Payment and email-delivery providers, if and when you use a paid feature or a service that requires them.
• Law enforcement or other parties, only where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of CES or our members.

Attorneys listed in the directory never get access to member documents or findings. There is no technical path from an attorney account to member data — it’s enforced at the database level, not just by policy.

You can access, correct, export, or delete your information at any time from your account, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the CCPA/CPRA — including the right to know what we collect, request deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We don’t sell personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of on that front.

Documents are stored in a private bucket, encrypted at rest, and accessible only through short-lived signed URLs. Database access is governed by row-level security policies scoped to your own account — no other member, and no attorney account, can read your rows. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security, but this is the standard we build to.

ClauseCheck isn’t directed at anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

We currently operate in the United States only, and member data is stored and processed in the US. We’ll update this policy before offering the Service in any other region.

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service — nothing beyond that. We don’t use third-party advertising trackers.

If we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email or through the Service before they take effect.
